- Decreased pain due to easing of muscle tension and release of your body endorphins
- Improvement in circulation and reduction in swelling and tissue oedema
- A feeling of well-being
Massage has been used by physiotherapists since the foundation of the profession. It is used for the treatment of a whole range of soft tissue problems to tissues such as ligaments, muscle, tendons and fascia.
Physiotherapists are experts in the field of rehabilitation. We use the integrated theory of biomechanics and exercise therapy and current research, to regain normal movement, strength and endurance of the injured area and to re-establish normal fitness following injury, surgery or disease processes.
Active VIII physiotherapists use a wide variety of physical agents to help reduce pain and/or inflammation. We also use special modalities to stimulate weak muscles, to measure muscle activity, and muscle performance.
Integrated (holistic) management of all your musculoskeletal problems through expert assessment, immediate clinical diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and integration of your lifestyle into your care.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy & Counselling at Active VIII
What Is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy?
Cognitive behavioural therapy is a practical problem-solving approach to psychological or health difficulties. It tends to be short term, focussed, often with real life tasks set for you to work on between sessions. Based on well established research it is generally considered one of the most effective therapies available.
Established in 1989, ACTIVE VIII is a renowned Centre of Excellence for Sports Physiotherapy.
Sports physiotherapy combines the expertise of a Chartered Physiotherapist, with sports specific knowledge and the biomechanical approach of a sports scientist. Our Sports Physiotherapists have undertaken additional qualifications to achieve this level.
An abnormal walking or running pattern (gait) can produce a number of problems that prevent you from functioning normally. Gait analysis is the biomechanical examination of how a person walks or runs.
Good posture maximises the distribution of force through the body thereby optimizing the function of the musculoskeletal, neural and visceral systems. This in turn helps to protect the body against injury and dysfunction.
Are you a keen recreational cyclist, triathlete, competitive cyclist or mountain biker? Have you been suffering from "niggles", such as back, neck, knee and arm pain or saddle soreness, or are you struggling to improve your performance?
